About

Nanalteco S.L. is an independent private engineering company developing innovative technologies and materials for environmental applications.

Nanalteco is a perfect alloy of world-known scientists with high impact factors and h-indexes, talented and inventive engineers capable of solving technical problems of any complexity, ambitious and creative market analysts and business lucky devils. The activities cover the whole bunch of areas around the environmental protection and remediation, green chemistry and robust process design. Air and water (including wastewater)purification were the roots of the company. The background high-tech solutions being developed by Nanalteco are built on adsorbents and catalysts, with the major focus on nano-engineered materials.

The mission of Nanaltecois to move the brilliant ideas and tip-of-a-pen lab verification to the orbit of full-scale commercial products. The use of innovative porous materials as carriers for catalysts and matrices for efficient adsorbents combined with deep expertise and inherited skills helps us to develop new technology to convert wastes into high added-value products (a waste-to value approach). The precious experience of the team translates into cost-effective and society-focused technologies.

The world is facing serious challenges in the coming troublesome future. The short supply of low-cost energy and the growing oil and gas prices are calling for the revolutionary steps in the development of renewable sources of energy, fuel, and raw materials.

The engineering solutions are based on in-house knowledge, know-how, and technology stemming from research and development efforts. The Nanalteco adsorbents, catalysts and processes meet and exceed customer expectations.

Nanaltecoperforms modeling studies based on the first principles and innovative IT solutions for the prediction of important properties of materials.

Nanalteco is the solution provider committed to a long-term partnership with industrial customers. We offer business consulting, marketing studies and effective solutions that enable our customers to gain the synergy of the components they hardly expected to get.

Low--carbon manufacturing

NANALTECO is one of the international leaders in low-carbon manufacturing. We have a comprehensive set of research activities concerned with how to enable the industry to tackle the product development and manufacturing. These activities span across low-carbon materials, products, manufacturing technologies, systems, supply chains, and strategies.

With increased pressure to deal with the problems of climate change, diminishing natural resources and energy security, major challenges for manufacturing industry include how to reduce carbon emissions, as well as materials and energy wastage over the whole life-cycle of products, from design to production including usage and decommissioning. Low-carbon manufacturing has become a new direction in manufacturing research. Our work attempts to find solutions to the above problems using a global systems approach.

This project aims at the introduction to the market a highly desirable,  new,   feasible,  and cost-efficient technology for CO2 capture that surpasses hitherto developed technologies in terms of their applicability to the real production environment and cost. The new approach is based on the development and validation of hybrid membranes. Gas separation by the membrane is specifically attractive in low carbon emission technologies, as it can be operated in a continuous system, which is required by industry, other than the conventional batch systems such as adsorption and absorption. The project demonstrates the way the nanostructured membrane solves the major problem: a trade-off between permeability and selectivity. This trade-off was a stumbling block in hitherto introduced membranes for gas separation. The membrane selectively permeates the desired gas components and retains the unwanted, resulting in the separation of gas mixtures. In carbon capture and storage (CCS) processes for post-combustion processes, CO2 will be separated from the exhaust gas streams (basically N2) at low cost before the subsequent transportation and storage making the membrane separation technology one of the most efficient solutions for carbon capture. The  DISRUPT technology based on the new hybrid membranes is related to TRL-6 and shows a proven high potential to fulfill the industrial need for CCS. Potential consumers of the new technology and device are power plants, energy high-consumption industries and consumer-goods manufacturers among other sectors of the European economy. The DISRUPT proposal is a radical innovation, because neither the technology nor the resulting device is present in the market yet, and they do not constitute incremental improvement of existing solutions. Besides the proposal paves the way to solving an outstanding problem: namely CO2 utilisation. Indeed, instead of treating the captured  CO2 as undesired waste, it can now be used for transforming it to highly valuable chemical products. The project  has the capability of  shaping new markets and disrupt existing ones. The proposal (phase 2) is based  on the previously conducted a comprehensive  technical and economic viability studies including a business plan, technology reviews, market study, and risks analysis. DIVIDENT aspires to build an open experimentation platform bringing together state-of-the-art big data analytics components. It primarily targets power plants but the prospect of opening up towards other sectors is presented. Measurable KPIs are provided to verify achievement of the objectives. The legal prerequisites of the exploitation are  asserted.  The proposal makes use of stakeholder knowledge from the relevant domains. The claimed innovation level in the technological solution is explained as the discussion and comparison of the adopted solutions against the state of the art is  detailed. Furthermore, the Project  will demonstrate the concurrent utilization of the captured  CO2  for obtaining valuable chemicals to offset the cost of gas separation.  It is demonstrated that the Project will be beneficial  for the society, European economy and the proposing SME.
